Job Description
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Fire
Protection Engineer to join our Building and Fire Protection
Engineering team in West Milton, NY!
As a Fire Protection Engineer, the successful candidate will
support the administration and enforcement of the fire protection
program at the Kesselring Site and will have the opportunity
to:
Oversee proper installation and maintenance of fire detection, fire
suppression, and fire communication systems
Upgrade fire hazard systems and equipment to be more effective
Resolve fire code deficiencies
Perform tasks related to the overall management and operations of
facilities and infrastructure equipment, maintenance, repair, and
construction
Train and obtain qualifications in the analysis of fire hazards,
mitigation of fire damage through proper facility design, and
installation/maintenance of fire systems
Perform engineering evaluations and collaborates on projects
related to fire protection of facilities
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in
engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant
experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or
university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of
relevant experience
Preferred Skills
Familiarity of the ICC Codes/Building Code set for New York State
and associated reference standards
Experience with applicable NFPA standards
Experience with the development of engineering documents
(engineering analysis, technical specifications, functional
requirements, cost estimates, drawings)
Experience with design and maintenance of fire protection systems
including alarm & detection, water & gaseous suppression systems
and fire & life safety codes
Strong interpersonal and teaming skills

Pay Range
$76,400.00 - $117,000.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual
salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as
well as market and business considerations
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of
Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned
subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel
are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic
Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.
Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S.
Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston.
FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous
shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval
Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion

nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our
nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear

and support personnel.
